VICTORIAN CHARM BRACELET

Fascinating array of  Victorian charms, and the bracelet that came with them.  The charms grouped on the left in the enlargement are:
1.  Appearance of a watch case, one piece, does not open.  Set with three rhinestones, one clear, one red and one clear (discolored to yellow).  About 1 inch charm.
2.  Closed fist holding a stirrup shape which encloses a cranberry color faceted stone.  Set with flush clear rhinestones,  3 missing (contemporary rhinestones could be fitted in but would not be flush ... your choice)
3.   Wax Seal shape with faux, simulated carnelian stone.  Not seen is the Grissaile (white, painted) Roman soldier cameo  applied to the bottom.
4. Ornate oval frame with amethyst color, faceted glass stone.
5.  Six shooter, cylinder revolves.  About 1 1/2 inch.
6.  Round frame enclosing dark carnelian glass intaglio of Hermes, the mythical messenger God  known for wings on sandals and hat for fast travel.  Hand carved, shown here is the head with winged hat.  The back is smooth  & convex.

8.  Compass charm, not working, deterioration evident.  The back is a convex brown glass stone.

The charms grouped on the right are:

BOHEMIAN ART GLASS NECKLACE, circa 1920s

Exceptionally SUPERB NECKLACE, the mottled, apple green art glass is in imitation of jade and the mountings are Edwardian, knife edge metal filigree, presumed to be Chrome.   Vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition, circa 1920s.   Original length is about 19 inches; a removable extension has been added for longer effect.

1930s FLORAL NECKLACE with GREENS

Bold floral design,  pot metal richly plated in "old gold" or "Russian Gold".  The design is wonderful and what is interesting is the colors of the glass stones.   The two at the sides are unfoiled, emerald green in color, the large center is a medium green that might be described as light emerald, and the five unfoiled glass stones gracing the petals are a subtle color that is best described as  similar to Praisolite.  Praisolite is the green variety of Quartz and is sometimes called Green Amethyst,Vermarine, Lime Citrine. The original chain on the necklace had discolored to an unattractive black, so a newer, more acceptable chain has been added.  If you indicate your desired length, the chain will be cut to order before shipping.    Vintage costume jewelry in excellent condition, circa 1930.

CREPE STONE MOURNING BROOCH

A beauty, the knife-edge gold tone bars are set with pieces of black crepe stone.   Crepe stone is carved or textured to resemble fabric;  the material is matte finish and while I would like to say this is true Jet, I believe this piece is molded and is probably glass, "French Jet".   Gold filled mounting is worn, though not visible from the front.   Victorian antique jewelry in excellent condition on the front.   2 1/4 inches long.

VICTORIAN CORAL NECKLACE

Lovely, these are the largest beads and the longest Victorian coral bead strand that I've seen as they are usually "dainty".    About 22 inches long, 8.5 mm at the center and graduated to about 4 mm at the ends.  Beads from this era were cut by hand and polished by hand.     Possibly never worn as the small beads at the neck have a nice polish and have not dulled from wearing.  Stringing cord appears to be in good condition, however, I would recommend that the strand be restrung ... a good opportunity to make it the length that most flatters you.   Any jeweler can do it, or ask me and I will quote price and time factor.   Antique estate jewelry in very good condition.

ART DECO PENDANT AMETHYST & PEARL

Circles are in vogue again and isn't it nice to find an antique piece with the same design element?   10K yellow gold, the circles at the bottom are hinged and the stone is a small, natural amethyst.   There is a single tiny pearl in the top section.   The pendant measures 1 1/4 inches, the 10K yellow gold chain is about 18 inches.   Excellent condition fine estate jewelry, circa 1910-18.

14K DIAMOND and PEARL PENDANT, CIRCA 1910

The 14 K pendant has a plain outer rim and the inner frame is green gold, textured leaves.  The center is a 2 mm diamond and there is a tiny pearl at the top and a Mississippi river pearl, from the days before the river was polluted, dangling at the bottom.   Vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.   The pendant is 1 1/2 inches, the 14K chain is about 18 inches.

ART DECO PLATINUM, DIAMOND & ONYX DROP PENDANT

Enchanting, this Deco Pendant has 80 or more small diamond paved into the platinum cap and is just over 1 1/2 inches long.  The round button of the cap with the step down below and the simple onyx pendant marks it as Deco.  The pendant is set into the cap with a matrix of material true to the period, something like a wax.  The bail was added later and is 14K white gold, and the 24-25 inch chain, a sparkling box link quite suitable for the pendant,  is also 14K white gold.   The chain can be shortened by a bench jeweler, if desired.   Vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.   It is difficult to count or measure the diamonds, I am guessing there is about 1/3 of a carat.

SHELL CAMEO BROOCH

Quality carving in this shell cameo set in a 1-20-12K gold filled frame which can be worn as either a BROOCH or a pendant.   The carving is well done with clever use of the natural coloring to enhance the flower in the hair with a pale peach color.  Hair style, facial features, clothing and flowers place this about circa 1930.   About 1 5/8 inches, vintage estate jewelry in excellent condition.

ANTIQUE DIRK, HORN HANDLE

Perhaps Victorian, it is hard to judge the age of this little beauty.  The dark area in the blade is inlaid horn and the handle is horn.  On the back side, one of the points of the horn has a small flake off the tip ... it is not seen from the front.   The clasp is applied and is a C clasp leading me to believe this could be from as late as the 1930s.  Hand engraved, vintage estate jewelry in very good condition, 2 5/8 inch long.end.

They don't get any sweeter than this one.   All the subtle elements common to the period, the outer frame is yellow gold, slotted on the side and milgrain texture on the top and is separated from the central portion of the brooch which is attached just at the two ends.   The central portion is white gold, engraved design flanked with two lines of navy blue enamel, and .....each of the little, glowing pearls (thought to be natural pearls rather than cultured) is set in a pierced du-foil foliate design, then ... a yellow gold inner frame is milgrain to match the outer frame.   14K gold, tested & guaranteed, lever catch on the clasp,  1 1/4 inches.   Antique jewelry in excellent condition. INCREDIBLE VICTORIAN MYSTERY CAMEO BRACELET

In process of looking for information about dating, the subjects or mythical goddesses, and the unusual materials.    The cameos are  finely worked repousse,  with much detail.  The figures are coppery in appearance but have actually been silvered on top of copper and then  darkened to a bronzy brown in the background and polished lightly on the figures to bring out the detail.   All of the figures are women and thought, perhaps to be Muses of Greek Mythology, though they are unidentified.  The top edge of the  raised oval frames, plated gold tone,  are hand engraved top, bottom and on the two sides of the rim.   The cameo plaques are set on fitted  natural Mother of Pearl, not seen from the front side.  One of the mother-of-pearl plaques had a chip out of the edge and has a hairline fracture (stable) about 1 inch long.   The chip has been filled and painted over with iridescent paint, see  repair .     The plaques are held in place by tiny tabs of metal punched from the sides of the frame.   The BRACELET is about 7 1/2 inches long,  1 1/4 inches at the widest cameo and 1 1/8 inch at the smallest, and about 1/8 inch thick.

DESCRIPTION OF THE CAMEOS, left to right:
1.  Female, seen from the rear, with head turned sideways.  Flowing clothing.  The hair appears to be pulled back to the nape of the neck.  She carries a sieve of some sort.
2.  Female figure, seated on a natural shape outcropping, one breast exposed from her flowing clothing.  She has the small butterfly wings commonly associated with Psyche.   A portion of an arrow shaft with feathers rests across her lap and ends near her hip.
3.  Female figure, seated on a bench, sculpting a male bust on pedestal.  Her hair appears to be held by a fillet, hair arranged on the crown of the head and a tied braid down her back.   An odd floral arrangement rests against the pedestal.
4.  Female figure, breasts exposed, standing and pouring water from a ewer into a bowl held in her left hand.  An eagle, standing on a small pedestal, wings slightly open, looks upward at the bowl.   Her hair appears to be Faustina style.
5.  Female figure, breasts exposed and pubis almost visible, she holds a long spear, the point is seen above her left shoulder.   The wings may be hers but look more like  an eagle on her should as there appears to  be a bird head seen near her cheek.  Her shield is seen next to her leg and in profile shows a male gorgon head.   At her booted feet is a soldier's decapitated head.
6.  Female figure, one breast exposed.  She is turned away from a pedestal on which rests a bowl and you can see the head of a bird, with beak almost immersed in the bowl.  Her right hand holds an ewer.
7.  Female figure, flowing clothing tied below the waist.  She is seated and has her hand on an urn.  This is the only cameo  which was silvered.  The figure is silvery, with the copper showing through.
8.  Female figure, breast showing, head forward, chin in palm, obviously in thought.  Double bracelet is seen on the upper left arm.

The clasp on the bracelet looks Victorian.  The use of base metals could indicate that it is late Victorian and it could be that the cameos are "stamped", however, that is as yet undetermined.

EXQUISITE LITTLE ENAMELED PENDANT

This type of jewelry, seen in pins and pendants, are very desirable for those in the know.  The enameling is generally excellent and the motifs almost always floral or Art Deco.  Circa 1900-1930, very few of them have survived with some damage to the glass enameling.  This one missing a bit of the green enamel just at the top point of the right hand leaf and also on the right hand stem.   Visually the missing enamel doesn't detract from the effect of the pendant.   The flower appears to be a lily centered by a tiny real pearl and the pendant is set with tiny half pearls.  The pearls are likely to be natural, but could be cultured.  The pendant is marked 10K, the 24 inch chain is marked 14K.

SOLD! 0607.. EDWARDIAN GOLD, OPAL, ENAMEL and PEARL PENDANT NECKLACE

Circa 1910, the filigree and narrow "knife edge"  metal makes this pretty pendant Edwardian era.  The little opal is set in a bezel with a beaded edge, two little leaves are enameled in delicately color pale pink and green transparent enamel which allows the underlying gold to glow through it.  The distinctive type of pearl came from the Mississippi River, before it became polluted, and they were  very popular with Americans.   The pendant tests 10K, yellow gold, and hangs 1 1/2 inches, from a 14K yellow gold 18 inch chain.   Antique estate jewelry in excellent condition.  These usually sell for around $250.

HAND PAINTED PORCELAIN PENDANT

Lovely, hand painted on porcelain PENDANT.   There is a lot of detail, pleasant colors and nice facial features.  The frame is gold plated.  There is some spotting of the plating on the back side, a little on the right edge of the frame, and, on the front, a little just at the inside edge of the scallops between 2:00 and 3:30.   You will note that the original brooch pin mechanism has been removed and soft solder used to convert to a pendant.    Circa is unknown, I am guessing about 1920 because the bow is a little Nouveau, with three loops and both ribbon ends on one side.  Vintage estate jewelry in very good condition. 2 1/2 inches, 16 inch chain.
